Dr. John L. Bass, O.D.
Dr. Bass was born
and raised in the Portland suburb of Parkrose, Oregon. After graduating high
school in 1987 with a stellar high school basketball career, he was offered
a scholarship to attend Pacific University, located in the city of Forest
Grove, Oregon. From 1987-1991 Dr. Bass earned a Bachelor of Science, majoring
in biology and finishing as the third all-time leading scorer in Pacific
history. In October of 2004 he was inducted into the Pacific University Athletic
Hall of Fame.
Dr. Bass then went
on to attend Pacific University College of Optometry from 1991-1995. He graduated
with honors and moved to Fort Worth to work with Dr. Davidson. He wants each
patient at Eyes Nouveau to feel as if their vision concerns were addressed
completely and thoroughly.
Dr. Bass is a Therapeutic
Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist with an expertise in all areas
of primary eye care, including very difficult contact lens fittings, treatment
of eye disease, pre and post-op co-management of Laser in-situ keratomileusis
(LASIK), low vision, and pediatric eye care. If there is a kid to be seen,
Dr. Bass is a great choice. He loves kids and has often been described as
a big kid himself.
Dr. Bass has also participated in eye care management with the medical staff
of The University of North Texas Health Science Center, and Medical Development
International. He is a proud Christian and member of Gateway Church. He loves
to spend time with his wife of 9 years and his son Conner (18), Adisson (9),
and Makenna (7). His family is very active in soccer, basketball, water skiing,
as well as anything adventurous. Recently, Dr. Bass has become a certified
CrossFit Level 1 Trainer and enjoys helping others reach their athletic potential.
