Dr. Melody Fikkert, O.D.

Dr. Melody Fikkert is proud to be a native Texan. After graduating high school in Grand Prairie, she attended Baylor University in Waco, TX and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1992. Dr. Fikkert then went on to the University of Houston College of Optometry where she graduated summa cum laude in 1996. Dr. Fikkert is a state licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist.

She has spent the early part of her career practicing in Dallas gaining extensive knowledge and experience with the treatment of glaucoma and post-operative cataract patients, as well as various eye care emergencies. She was excited however, to move to Fort Worth in June 2004 and join the Eyes Nouveau team.

Dr. Fikkert's specialties include challenging contact lens fittings, diabetic eye examinations, glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, LASIK co-management, treatment of eye infections and other diseases, and general eye care for all ages. Dr. Fikkert has been described as very friendly, outgoing, and patient. She enjoys both getting to know her patients and their families.

She can always be counted on to greet everyone with a smile and encourages her patients to discuss their specific eye care goals. Combined with her approachable personality, Dr. Fikkert strives to meet every patient’s needs and exceed their expectations. She is a devoted wife, the blessed mother of three beautiful children, and an active member of her local church where she enjoys teaching children. Her hobbies include playing tennis, boating, camping, and photography.
