Dr. Melody Fikkert, O.D.

Dr. Melody Fikkert is proud to be a native Texan. After graduating high school in Grand Prairie, she attended Baylor University in Waco, TX, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1992. Dr. Fikkert then went on to University of Houston College of Optometry where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1996. Dr. Fikkert is state licensed as a therapeutic optometrist and an optometric glaucoma specialist.

She has spent most of her career practicing in Dallas where she gained extensive knowledge and experience treating glaucoma, treating post-operative cataract patients and seeing various eye care emergencies. She was excited to move to Fort Worth in June 2004 to join Eyes Nouveau.

Dr. Fikkert's specialities include challenging contact lens fittings, diabetic eye examinations, glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, LASIK co-management, treatment of eye infections and other diseases, and general eyecare for all ages. Dr. Fikkert has been described as very friendly, outgoing and patient. She enjoys getting to know her patients and their families.

She always greets everyone with a smile and encourages her patients to discuss their specific eyecare goals. Her personality makes her very approachable, and it is always her goal to meet every patient?s needs and expectations. Dr. Fikkert is a devoted wife, and is very blessed to be the mother of three beautiful children. She is an active member of her local church, 121 Community Church, where she enjoys teaching young children. Her hobbies include arts and crafts, camping and photography.
